Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

Overview

ThroughTheMirror is a browser history analysis tool built on a single principle: your data never leaves your device. This policy explains exactly what data is accessed, how it is used, and what we do not do with it.

The Browser Extension

The ThroughTheMirror Chrome extension requests one browser permission: history. This permission is used exclusively to read your local browsing history when you explicitly click "Analyze My History" on the website.

  • History data is read locally, inside your browser tab.
  • History data is processed entirely on your device — no data is sent to any server.
  • The extension only activates when you initiate a request. It does not run in the background passively.
  • The extension does not collect, store, or transmit your browsing history anywhere.
  • The extension does not modify any web page content.

The Website

When you use throughthemirror.app:

  • Analysis results are computed in your browser and optionally saved to your account if you choose to create one.
  • If you register, your email address and saved analysis results are stored securely in our database solely to provide the service.
  • We do not sell, share, or monetise your data in any way.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking scripts.
  • Raw browsing history URLs are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Account Data

Creating an account is optional. If you register, we store your email address and the analysis results you choose to save. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. We do not store passwords in plain text — authentication is handled securely.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use a session cookie solely to keep you logged in between visits. No tracking cookies or third-party cookies are used.

Data Retention

Saved analysis results are retained as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all data is permanently removed. We do not retain browsing history data — it is never stored on our servers in the first place.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
